Graphical Time-Period selection webcontrol

J

Jurjen de Groot

I'm looking for a web control in wich a day is shown graphically, for
instance by using small squares, one square per 15 or 30 minutes, the user
can then click on the start time, keep the mouse button pressed and drag the
mouse to the end time and the release the mouse button, the control should
have a start-time / end-time value in the corresponding starttime/endtime
property. or something like that...

I've searched the web (ComponentSource etc.) but can't seem to find anything
remotely like that. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Kind regards,

Jurjen de Groot,
Netherlands.

Hi Jurjen,

That's a tall order for a Web control since dragging and selecting are
difficult in a browser environment. Is there an MS Outlook control that
would have this type of functionality?

Ken,

Ms-Outlook does have something like that, when in Calendar and viewing just
1-day you can click the start time (for example 16.00) and then select (make
blue) 16.00 through 17.30 and then right click 'New Appointment' and the new
appointment will be from 16.00 through 17.30. That's the type of
functionality I'm looking for.

So I'm not really dragging but more.. selecting

Jurjen.

hi Jurjen, your looking for a timeline control.

I have never used or purchased their control but this seems like what you
want.
Its pretty expensive though and if you had the time and this werent going on
a commercial site you might just consider taking the time to do one
yourself. Its faily simple if you know some javascript. Here's an article on
msdn which should put your in the right direction.
Modifying this script a little should also make it cross browser. Combined
with server side code you can pretty much transform this into what you want.
A custom control is what you want to make if this is the route you want to
go :)

Good luck ;P

The timeline control is no solution for me, I will however look into the
other link 'Slip Slidin'

Thanks,
Jurjen.
