Job description:
The Java UI Development Engineer is responsible for the design and
implementation of full-featured, visually rich Java-based and web-
based applications for the a Network Management System. The ideal
candidate is self-motivated and comfortable working in a small, agile
team.
Essential Job Functions
Participate in the development of information architecture for
visually-oriented applications.
Participate with marketing personnel in the visual design of
applications, including branded variants for key partners.
Prototype UI designs to support iterative UI design efforts.
Design and develop UI software for both Java-based and web-based
applications.
Work closely with back-end team members to develop overall
architecture.
Coordinate with third-party organizations on joint projects.
Required Experience:
Working knowledge of Java UI technologies including Swing, applets,
Java 2D, Java 3D.
Working knowledge of web UI technologies including HTML, DHTML, CSS,
JavaScript, JSON, AJAX.
Working knowledge of web server technologies including J2EE, JSP,
Struts, JSTL.
Knowledge of XML technologies including XML, DTD, XSL, XPath, XML
Schema.
Familiarity with both Linux and Windows operating environments.
Minimum of five years software development experience.
Minimum of three years UI development experience.
Knowledge of back-end technologies such as databases is a plus.
Some knowledge of other web-based frameworks is useful: JSF, Spring,
WebWorks, JBoss SEAM, Ruby on Rails, etc.
Familiarity with network concepts in general, and WiFi concepts in
particular is an advantage.
UML familiarity is preferred.
Knowledge of design patterns is a plus.
Education:
BS in Computer Science, or equivalent.
