I just downloaded and installed the J2SE SDK - do I need to install
the JRE to get applets to run in my web page?

when you install the j2sdk ,the installer will ask you whether you waht
to install the java runtime library.If you select yes,you don't need to
install it again.

If you'd looked at the directory tree you'd installed you'd have seen that
it includes the JRE. The directory called jre, together with the
executables
it contains, is rather a giveaway.

The only thing you need that's not part of the J2SE download is the
documentation set.
