Named User Licensing - how to implement?

Hi, my company is providing software solution for customers, and we are moving to a named user licensing model. I have to code/implement the licensing model in Java. I have tried searching the internet for any free library or java class or even a description of how to implement a named user licensing model. Some basic source code/example or description of components involved would be really helpful. There seems to be so little information out there about this topic. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
