Recommendation for simple authentication needs

Hi. I am looking at using the ASP.Net 2 framework's provider model for
authenticating/logging in users. Our requirements are very simple; We have
an existing table with user details in it, including of course username and
password.

Is it relatively simple to map ASP.Net 2 to use this simple set up, and if
so, where would we start?
