I'm afraid that it's not an issue of cost,
just management policy (don't ask) ;-((

Objet : Re: Ruby & MF Cobol

Some time ago when I used to work with HP-UX, I managed to build GCC
with HP's C compiler. I am also sure that nowadays you can easily find
some publicly available distribution of GCC for your system.

Gennady.

Hi,
I know this must sound very odd, but has anybody any experience
of writing Ruby extensions in MicroFocus Cobol ?

The HPUX system I'm working with doesn't have a fully featured
C compiler ( no ansi, and cant create shared objects), and
so it's a bit difficult for me to create any extensions.

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tad

Sorry, it looks like I am missing something. What does cost have to do
with it? My understanding was that we were talking about something
already present on your system or PUBLICLY (no monetary cost) available
on the Internet.

And what about management policy? Do you mean the one that require you
to build Ruby extensions with MF Cobol? Sorry to disappoint you, but I
think it will not be possible. Just get GCC somehow and be happy ;-)

Gennady.
