Reliability of the Membership Classes

I tried implementing the login system based on the Membership classes
provided and I experienced some problems

Is it reliable enough and I should try to solve it or it is easier in the
long term to implement myself

The Membership classes are quite reliable. As with any other "new feature",
some study will be required to get everything to work the way you want.
