saving intranet pages?

Hi all,
I am working on an application in which a user has provision to add
pages from the internet and save them as bookmarks. Now I want the same
to be done for intranet / local htm files as well. And If a file or
page is behind a firewall - its title & handle to should be saved. On
revisiting - we can assume that the access to the link is possible
through the client - then it can be shown. Can anybody please suggest
me, how this can be made feasible by using JavaScript.
