Tool for connection detection

Suppose I start client before Server. How can I find using some
external tool that the client is connected when the Server is actually
started.
Using RMI between client and server...Any TCP/IP Tool may be can help?

Can you clarify the question? How can a client be connected to a
server if the server isn't available?

A client could be *attempting* to connect to a server. One tool that
can be used for monitoring network traffic is JPCap on sourceforge.
This can monitor ip packets (including TCP syn segments) even without
a listening port being available.
