Trouble installing Tomcat 5.5 on Windows XP

I downloaded the Windows Service installer (exe) and ran that. It
apeared to install fine but when I point my browser to: http:\
\localhost:8080 is get this error: "The device does not recognize the
command."

I can start and stop the server by using the Tomcat Monitor but no
matter how many times I stop and start it I get the same message.

Any ideas would be great.
Thanks

Ummm...here's a dumb question:
shouldn't that be ' http://localhost:8080/ ' ?
That is, forward slashes, as opposed to the backslashes
you have written?

Sorry that should have been http://localhost:8080/.

Either way, neither one of them work.

I've tried the forward slash toohttp://localhost:8080/and still get
the same message.

Thanks

What gives you the error message?
What is the browser?
What version of Windows are you running?
Are you using a pre-installed JVM, or
Suns? Do you know which version?
Did you alter the server.xml file?

Correction: you're using XP.
Have you looked at the Tomcat FAQ's,
esp. those pertaining to Windows?
