Webservice which sends a file to the client

Hello,

I'm looking for a good snippet for a web service which should simply
send an XML file to the client.
A dive into Google hasn't taken anything of useful.

Size could be variable from 1KB to max 800KB - maybe a ZIP could
reduce the size).

Any good idea ?
