Advanced Javascript

Hello Experts!

I have been programming for about 5 years now(mainly using asp.net
C#), and I am ready to expand my skill set and add some advanced
javascript and ajax skills under my belt. Javascript and Ajax are not
unfamiliar to me, but I would like to find a good source that will
teach me how to do some enterprise level advanced programming. I was
thinking about downloading the The Yahoo! User Interface Library
(YUI), and just looking at their source code, but perhaps you experts
know of a better approach to learn? Also, if you all know of some good
books, please let me know.

Thanks for the info.

If you've been programming for 5 years you probably have most of the
tricks to learning already.... JavaScript is no more than another
language in that respect.

Your best bet is to look for basic tutorials (but I understand you've
already passed that stage?), follow up with some more advanced
examples (fish around for these) and then try looking at what other
sites do. Google has a good amount of its UI riddle with AJAX - but
since they muddle it in distribution, it might be hard to make sense
of...

For books, O'Reilly tend to be fairly decent. Also, look around for
"AJAX" with extra keywords "advanced" and "Bible" and I'm sure you'll
uncover something of interest. Also, try webdev sites, for example
http://www.netmag.co.uk/zine/search?q=AJAX&category_id=7&x=0&y=0

Good luck in your quest.

You won't. That book ("JavaScript Bible, 4th Edition", by Danny Goodman)
has proved here to be junk, as most books about the topics discussed here
have proved (here).

The best of the bad books is the one recommended in the FAQ. You really
should read that (the FAQ, not the book) *before* you post.
