.... you just cant win with ethical SEO. ive tried for many years - i dont
think its spam if it provides a textual description - in fact i think it may
encourage visitors who may prefer a search description you can actually read

i bet that if i was to replace the "free delivery" text with this and move
it to align with the logo you'd have no problem.

Why do you insist on top-posting?
You've posted to this NG for quite some time now. Surely you've caught on to
the fact that top-posting sucks and is very unwelcome in this NG

My guess is that he's used to the more relaxed rules at ADG...

We focus on contents, not netiquette...

So don't bother to quote "what you've already read". The worst part
about top-posting is the trailing junk that doesn't get snipped.

Lack of trimming compounds the problem. TOFU.

OT, and not usually with books, but for some strange reason I frequently
read magazine and newspaper articles back to front (at the paragraph
level). Something about wanting to get straight to the conclusion, then
wondering how the writer got to that conclusion and working backwards
from there.

But, of course, I can enjoy this in the privacy of my own "office",
where it won't disturb anyone else. ;-)

I don't see how they're mutually exclusive. Isn't this trimmed,
quote-fixed reply so much more simple to read?

With regard to Mark's statement - Even if you can't win with ethical SEO,
you certainly can lose with unethical SEO. I'd rather risk winning than
risk losing, my own self here.

A little selfish to those trying to read an archive. Or did you forget
Usenet's not a chatroom?

That is indeed selfish, they should've snipped the irrelevant parts better.

However, before throwing the first stone, you bottom-post with but two
differences: irrelevant junk is left at the end; and quotations aren't
given attribution.

It sure is. Anyone who does that should learn how to snip a little bit.
Top-posting still sucks.

In a *design* group you're more focussed on *content* than *presentation*?

Weird.

Not at all, OTOH we know how to get attention. You know, only dead fish

I top post. I'm ranked as one of the top three posters in this newsgroup
by Microsoft's research stats on this NG. *No one* has complained to me
about in on ADG, ever.

I don't speak for anyone else at ADG, and I know you certainly don't.

There's arguments for both sides. The best option is mid-posting, but by
no means is it obligatory. It's an ooooold argument. Get over it.

I apologise if my comment seemed harsh, I didn't realise that this
thread was cross-posted. I've never seen anyone complain in ADG, but it
may be entirely different at alt.html.

No, but he speaks for the majority at alt.html. In case you hadn't
noticed, this thread is going to both groups.

Damn! You beat me to it! :)

And yes, top-posting is definitely frowned upon in alt.html. The OP has
been posting to alt.html for a while, which is why Karl made the above
comment.
