Could someone please tell me what the correct code is to make a mailto: link
mail an address with a particular subject.

google "email ideas that don't work"

I wonder how many other people reading this (experts excepted!) were
unaware that people accessing sites in libraries, etc. may not be able
to use mailto; links.

Only those who haven't bothered to read the group's archives.

What do you mean by that?

What portion of alt.html should a person read? All of it? A random
sampling dated back to the oldest thread on Google? All the articles
between two certain dates?

Have you considered how much time this would take?

Sorry - came out a bit more aggressively than intended.

It is generally expected in most groups that someone will lurk for at
least a couple of weeks before posting. It would be a rare 2 weeks where
the question of mailto: isn't discussed. :)

Everyone with a question should google the group before asking.

I don't know. Type it in.

See, the OP wanted to know how to get the subject to be automatic. Your
reply neglected this.

A standard way of doing this is
mailto:[email protected]?subject=this%20is%20the%20subject but it's not
standardized for all email clients to my knowledge, and a form is a
superior way of handling this.

I didn't process that part of it until you said something actually but
even if I did, I still wouldn't have known it.

Handy. I may try to use that soon. Thanks!

Not handy. Do you have a reading disability?

Use a secure form for email and supply an email address for those who
prefer their own email client. Can't do a whole lot better than that.

And if I did? Wouldn't you feel shitty.

But I don't. A gee-whiz-neato thing I found on usenet. I probably should
have said something other than handy but fuggit.

Fair enough.
