Hello from Japan!

RubyKaigi is the main Ruby conference in the homeland of Ruby, Japan,
and tickets go on sale tomorrow!
We're also looking for Lightning Talk presenters and volunteer translators.


* EVENT DETAILS
Dates: Friday, June 20 through to Sunday, June 22
Venue: Tsukuba International Conference Center, Tsukuba City, Ibaraki

* TICKETING
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m. (JST).
Tickets are 5000 yen can be purchased through Lawson Ticket with L-code 35770.

* LIGHTNING TALKS
We have 11 lightning talk slots open for proposals. Lightning Talks
will be held on
the afternoon of Day 1 (Saturday June 21) of the conference.

Please send applications to rubykaigi2008 AT jp.rubyist.net with the
following details:
SUBJECT: RubyKaigi2008/LT (Your Name)
BODY: Please include the following details:
- your name
- your company/organization (optional)
- a short bio
- title of your talk
- a summary of your talk
- comments/equipment requests. A projector will be available for presenters.

Please note that Lightning Talk speakers will need to purchase tickets
to attend.

* VOLUNTEERS
We're currently looking for volunteer translators. If you understand
Japanese and
can type English fast, we WANT YOU. We want to do translations to/from
Japanese/English
in real-time using IRC, which will also serve as a log of the presentations.

As a volunteer, you'll receive an staff t-shirt (illustrated by _why),
but will receive no other
compensation. You won't need a ticket for the main event, but since
you'll be volunteering,
it is possible that you will not be able to see all the presentations.
