Bad-looking thumbnails

why would the thumbnails look so cruddy:

it because scaling images takes good code. IE has much better code than the
..net drawing routines. while resizing, you need to run anti-alising routines
to get a good image. i believe .net just does a simple sampling or
replication on resize commands. buy or find a good graphics library.
