Coding for a USB joystick in C++ on a Redhat linux machine

Hi there,

I'm trying to code for a USB joystick in C++ on linux operating
system. I'm completely new to USB programming and only a novice to
unix operating systems, what I really need is a resource, a book or
tutorial or something, to help me get the ball rolling, something with
some specific code examples would be highly preferable. I realize
that this is a pretty rich subject, with a lot depending on my
specific architecture, I just need a place to get started. I'm trying
to set this up for manual robotic control. I've coded for serial
devices and other hardware, but even then I had header files at my
disposal, which I don't have now, and this is entirely a different
animal...Any assistance anyone could provide would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks for any time and help.

Thanks for all your help! I really appreciate it, I'll be sure to
check that resource.
