Coloring xls retrieved as a BLOB object

hi friends,
i am retrieving large chunk of data from database as BLOB object and
storing it in an excel (xls) file. I need some of the column of that
xls to be in different color (say red).
Is this possible through code ?
If yes, can anyone tell me the procedure or any document related to the
same...

How about writing a MACRO within excel?
It lets you access the Excel Object Model and then you can loop thru
each column / row / cell
