    Are there any good free gui style c++ compilers that a student could use to
    learn on? I need to start some programs soon but dont have a compiler.

  3. Dev-C++ is an IDE, not a compiler. It uses MinGW.

    You should contact your schools Microsoft Representative, usually you can
    get .net for free while you are a student.
