how to configure a virtual directory as an application in IIS

Go to Internet Information Services in the administrative tools(Alternatively typing inetmgr in the cmd prompt). Go to the virtual directory under the default web site you want to make an application. Right click on it and go to properties. In the virtual directory tab you find the application name and a create button. Click it and the virtual directory is now an application in the IIS
