Convertig integers to dollars with commas and decimals

I have some variables that are supposed to display in dollars. While
the value of the variable may be an interger, such as 1290 I would
like it to display as $ 1,290.00 with the dollar sign, and the
deceimal. Is there some function that will do this for me? Adding the
comma, and the decimals?
