DirectX Screenshot with python possible?

I'm in need for a function that is able to make a screenshot from a directx full screen. PIL is only able to take a snapshot from the desktop, but not from any directx screen.

Has someone a tip for an existing module?

Perhaps pygame has (or wraps) such a function. If not, someone on the
pygame list must know how. (I am assuming that sdl library and hence
pygame use directx.)
