Fred

Hi,

I need an encrypted webpage. Does someone know how to do it, or point to
a site where I can optain the info. I like to have a free version as I
understand you can purchase such page.

Thanks,

Fred.

WHY?

(We get one of these about once a month)

I need an encrypted webpage.

You mean hiding the source code? You don't need anything of the sort.

No, but if you find one post it here and someone will break it in a
matter of minutes (or less).

Froggie's Law: If you think you have to hide your source, it's a sure
bet you have nothing worth hiding.

You can generate your own certificate, but user's will get a warning because
it isn't signed by a recognised authority.

You will also have to fork out extra for hosting (due to the way SSL works,
you can't used it with shared hosting[1]).

[1] That's a simplistic view. The longer version is that you can, but only
one site per ip address / port can have SSL so you aren't likely to find
many shared hosting packages that support it.
