Event to catch the change options in dropdownlist

I have a dropdownlist control in ASP.NET form. But when I click on the control and attempt to change the option, there is nothing to happen to the server side, that is cannot trigger in action. How come of this happen??? Is it use "SelectedIndexChanged" for dealing the change options event??

You have to trigger the event on client side to post changes to server,
in this situation, server cannot be noticed about the change.

btw, I'm a newbie about ASP.NET, so maybe I'm wrong.

Right. This is the cause.

In my projects, I'll usually use write something in a hidden control then
use javascript to call click() in another button. Remember to write code in
the click event of submit button so it won't do anything if it seen
something written on the hidden control.

Of course, there maybe other methods.
