My database apparently got moved to a new shared server. Today I connected to the server with SSMS 19.3 on my local PC.

I was shocked to see all the databases on the server in addition to my database. I can’t read them but to my thinking I should not even know they exist. Before the move the server name I used had identifying info unique to me so the address must have been an alias to the shared server in use. But I only saw my database listed.

To me this seems to be a small security lapse.

Seeing other databases listed is concerning, even if you can't access them. It could result from how the new server is configured, but you're right—ideally, you should only see your own database. It might be worth reaching out to your hosting provider to clarify the situation. Ensuring your database is isolated from others is crucial for security and peace of mind.

I’ve noticed you’re thinking about using GoDaddy’s MS SQL server. I’ve dabbled with a few hosting options over the years, and while GoDaddy isn’t bad, you might want to consider exploring other options too.
