How to detect "windows" system

Hi,

I'm writing an application which:
* Detects if there is a "windows" (not MS Windows) system (such as
X11...)
* If there is no "windows" system, then the application initialises
object(s) for the text UI, else it uses the GUI related classes.

Question:
Is there a way to detect if there is a "windows" system?
