Info on how to learn more

N

newbie

Hi all,

I'm new to recruiting for technology and I notice we get in quite a few
C++ positions. Do any of you know where I can go to learn more about
this? Thanks for any insight you can give.

I am sorry, my coffee must not have kicked in this morning yet...
To learn more about what? About recruiting for technology?

Only a C++ programmer can perform the "technical interview", to see if how
much C++ an applicant actually knows. (Read any of the hard questions on
this newsgroup to learn what I mean!)

Your role must be to sort resumes by qualification to the requirements
lists, perform the "personality interview", and pass applicants up the food
chain.

I would accept an interview with someone who doesn't know X, where X is
prominent on both the job listing and my resume, but I would have trouble
when that person tries to fake an understanding of X.

The indirect answer to your question is you should read trade magazines,
such as "Software Development" (if it still exists) to learn the names of
technologies that often go with X. The list for C++ would include STL, COM,
CORBA, Boost, WTL, and so on. You would then rank a C++ resume by looking
for these indicators.

If the OP has the temerity to try and learn something about the
technology he's recruiting for he'll be drummed out of the recruiters'
guild ;-)
