Interactive console in javascript?

I've looked around without luck for a javascript library that will
allow me to have an interactive console in a web page, so that I can
create a web application that works like the Try Ruby site at
http://tryruby.hobix.com/

Did you try reading the script(s) used in that page? Unfortunately,
the bit you want is built atop Prototype, but you can probably get
some ideas from it.
