Java SE 6.0 release - when?

D

Daniel Dyer

Does anyone know when the release version of Java SE 6.0 is expected?

I read something the other day that said it would be released early in
December.

On https://jdk6.dev.java.net/ one can read this:

"# Beta 2 is out! and we are heading towards final release in late October. See
beta2 notes from Danny and Mark. [June 15, 2006]"

Bottomline: we been pwnd. Yet again.

Then again, they didn't specify the year. Maybe they mean late October _2007_.

Hi!
No. October 2006 was meant, but there still were some problems. It was
announced for december then.
bye, Ralf

Except that the top of that page says it's targeted for "fall 2006"...

I saw that about "late October" and was checking every day last week but
concluded in recent days that the October estimate was not the most up to
date information. My interest is not in Java SE 6.0 itself, but rather in
build 02 of Java SE 7.0, in which the most serious bug affecting our
software is said to be fixed.

I forgot to add that Java SE 7.0 build 02 will be posted once Java SE 6.0 is
released officially. Join the fun at

Long ago at a PPOE, a representative of another company
assured us that the New Version would ship by summertime.

I asked whether he meant calendar summertime or fiscal
summertime.

(I was right ...)

My calender says it's summer next month (December).

Or are you referring to that calender that the
'unfortunate people in the north' have to suffer? ;-)

If you'll reread my post, you'll find that it was
latitudinally agnostic. Why did you choose to impute to
me a bias not expressed and not supported by evidence?
That sort of half-baked thinking is just so typical of
you stupid upside-downers ...

I *still* cannot read it that way..

You have heard of the north/west and south/east syndrome? that in the
history of the world people living in the north and west, tend to be the
richest and most powerful. While those in the east and south tend to be
poor or quite poor. So I would say we northerners are not so unfortunate
after all ;) We also get to see snow in the christmas holidays :D

Hm. Let's see. Sumerian civilization, Babylon, Persia, Egypt, Khmer empire,
Mayan and Aztec empires. Would you consider those to be northern? Or poorer than
their northern neighbours at the time? Because, you see, what you're trying to
sell us as your version of "history of the world" is actually quite a recent
development.

Hmm, Beijing is 6257 miles *North-West* of Los Angeles [1]

The quickest route from New York to Beijing is 6847 miles with an
initial heading of *North*.

Wait a few years and you may be right about the Northwesterners being
"richest and most powerful".

Did I mentioned any time frame for the world history? I did not notice,
but since you are the history expert you probably read between the
lines. (Btw my definition of history is past events, near or far)

Anyways, I see you have no sense of humour, which I indicated by several
clues in my reply. I´ll give you some hints: "not unfortunate
northerners", ";)", "snow", "christmas holidays". Not to worry though, I
am not going to hold anything against you.

OK. But it sounds a bit strange. Like, for example: in history of the world the
Moon has been populated many times, but all it's civilizations are now extinct.

BTW: definitions of "many" and "civilization(s)" are mine.
