Hello all,
I'm baffled by this problem that I've started to encounter on my linux
RH4 box. Most java programs I run end up crashing the jvm with an error
message that looks like this.
-- snip --
#
# An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
#
# SIGSEGV (0xb) at pc=0xb6e89d5e, pid=27222, tid=3075002496
#
# Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (1.5.0_06-b05 mixed mode)
# Problematic frame:
# V [libjvm.so+0x190d5e]
#
# An error report file with more information is saved as
hs_err_pid27222.log
#
# If you would like to submit a bug report, please visit:
-- snip--
I started seeing this problem periodically and then more frequently
till my linux box went down with a kernel.panic(). Now that I've
restored the system, I'm unable to run any java jobs without the jvm
crashing down. I initially suspected that JDK 1.5 had issues but I got
the errors even after I switched to JDK 1.4.2.
My box has 2G of phy mem. and the jobs have the -Xmx set to 720M
Any suggestions and pointers would be appreciated.
thanks,
n
