MasterPages with DetailsView problem

Hi,

I have spent a fair bit of time trying to get the insert working on
the DetailsView control. Everytime i tried to complete an insert the
objectdatasource control was complaining that the data it received was
null. So when I hooked up the DetailsView_ItemInserting event and
checked the e.Values it was correct all the values were null.

I've since found that the problem must be that it is sitting in a
ContentPlaceHolder for a MasterPage because if I take it to a normal
WebForm it works correctly.

I assume it is having problems reading the values out? Ive searched
the internet for related problems but it would seem that no one else
has this problem?

Any help appreciated?
