monospaced fonts good for programming. For those bored to tears with the same ol' @#$%

Glad to see that my favorite general-purpose font, Lucida, is also mentioned
here. I find Lucida Typewriter very pleasant at certain point sizes on my
LCD screen.

Follows a review for the freely available fonts, with a TTF version, as
displayed on my LCD, with ClearType on.

Profont (tweaked): sucks at 10pt and below 9pt, only basic Latin
Proggy: ugly, not truly TrueType
Anonymous: very clear and sharp for a serif font, only basic Latin
Andale: clear and complete Latin extended, basic Greek & Cyrillic
Bitstream Vera Sans Mono: nice'n'bold, only basic Latin

That's it boys & girls, no more free TTFs from that page...
I routinely have to fool my brain into paying attention. One of the
ways I do this is by changing the fonts around.

I do this by regularly listening to rithmic, melodic and complicated music.
The link is a list of fonts particularly good for programming.

On a CRT maybe, but good free LCD-friendly fonts that go beyond basic Latin
are still hard to find. But I am happy with the fonts I have.

I can't. My music training has me breaking down the chords continually.
Can't shut it off. Drives me nuts unless my room is either 1: dead silent,
or 2: filled with white noise. I suspect leonard bernstein's symphony #1
would be a good candidate for you...

Got me a sony sdm-x93 (19" dvi driven) and I see some issues, but with /all/
fonts. But most of them stem from the fact that when driven digitally on a
19", 1/1280 is too thin and 2/1280 is too fat for the lines within the font.
And of course I can't switch from native resolution without making the whole
think look I sneezed violently. Ah well...

You betcha. My favorite movie of his was the one that everyone hated
(including himself). Dune.
