Networking with Applets

Hello all,

I am new to the whole java networking aspect and cannot figure out how
to get applet - servlet, and servlet - applet communication to work.
I began developing a card game applet, but cannot get the networking
aspect to work and wondered if anyone can point me in the right
direction on what I need to do or where to look for help.
