i wrote this applet to display the contents of a text file.
it works fine locally from appletviewer or opening the html.
when i move the class, html and text file to:
http://www.someware.com/test/
it fails.
when in the http i reference the file
<PARAM name='textFile' value='text.txt'>
or <PARAM name='textFile' value='http://www.someware.com/test/text.txt'>
i get
java.security.AccessControlException: access denied
(java.io.FilePermission text.txt read)
I was under the impression that as long as i worked with files on the server
I could write the applet and let it run without signing.
besides getting a better brain... any suggestions?
