Hi all,

Just getting started in programming, looking into software developer courses at the moment.

I'm an electrical engineer with PLC programming experience so I do understand some logic concepts in regards to how things work.

Any info on best languages to learn or any general advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Languages tend to be tailored to easily express the notions relevant to their domain. So the solutions that occur to a programmer can be specific to the area of expertise the language is made for.

My favorite for ease of comprehension is Java, as it's a general purpose high level language with very little fiddling around with underlying mechanics.

For Programmable Logic Controllers, Boolean Algebra comes to mind as a worthwhile area of study.
