number of bytes of transfer for login client users in tomcat

I am developing a web-application in tomcat with login functionality. I
would like to implement a billing system for the user so that the number of
bytes transfered for the login session of each user are saved. Can anyone
tell me how I can achieve such functionality and what API I can make use of.
Please give me guidelines and help.
