It is unlikely that Sun will do this. Sun had a separate company for
Java development, called JavaSoft, founded around 1996. Around the end
of 1998 the company was re-integrated into the Sun mothership.

I don't see how this would be in Java's interests.

What I /would/ like to see is more liberal licenses.

I don't care much about the name of the parent company.

Of course practically everyone would like to see much the
same thing, but - practically speaking - Sun is about as
likely to let go of Java as Microsoft is to let go of Windows.
