Do you realize that you are not posting to a website forum when you use
this site. They are passing your posts on to the usenet newsgroup
alt.html

alt.html is a publicly available newsgroup. The website you are using is
stealing its content directly from there and pretending that it is
their own. There is no original material at all on the website you are
looking at now. It is all coming directly from usenet.

I suggest you obtain a newsreader and visit us at -
you will get a far better reaction to your question.

If you can not use a newsreader then http://groups.google.com will
provide you web based access into usenet, and they don't lie about the
content being their own.

what brucie said...

And your site is probably the most horrible I have ever had the
misfortune to stumble across. And that was the kindest way of putting
it I could find. It made my eyes hurt and my scalp crawl.

Best wishes.

Oh dear.
Terry is right. It's just horrible. About everything about it is wrong,
including spelling errors. It's no use starting to explain.
My advice: visit others' sites. Lots of them.
Mine is down for the time being, but it still has a home page:
http://users.pandora.be/nenya/anor2/site.htm. (comments are welcome).

Dear brucie;
did you know that this is a legitimate form for accessing usenet?
The manner in which they do it may not be all that great, but it is possible
to do.
After all, google does the same thing.
Even newsguy has a direct web interface which I use some times.
Newsguy will even sell you an account so you can host newsgroups right on
your website.
So what if they set up with a bulletin board look?
People who are accustomed to BB's are familiar with it so they will use it.

If you have a problem, feel free to bitch and whine to the owners of the
forum, not the posters ok?

The full load time for the opening page was about 12 seconds. When I
clicked on your "log in" image, I rather quickly got a completely blank
page.

You should be aware that forum4designers.com isn't actually running its own
forums; it's simply acting as a gateway to the Usenet [1] newsgroup
alt.html, and in many ways it's passing off other people's content as its
own. Most regular users of newsgroups will prefer that you access the
groups as such (using a newsreader and a news server or, failing that,
using Google Groups).

[1] By the very strictest definition, only newsgroups beginning with comp,
misc, sci, soc, talk, rec, news, or humanities are part of Usenet; however,
groups beginning with alt are often considered an "honorary" part of
Usenet, since they were initially started by the same people who managed
the previously-listed hierarchies.

That so? The list looks like an arbitrary list, probably based on what
Usenet started with. How about newsgroups starting with country codes?

Looks like somebody's homework project.
You should learn how to code so that when a visitor presses the enter
button, something happens.
Why should I click on one page to enter another which tells me a second time
I need to login?
Then I have to scroll down to find a little bitty word to click on.

On the home page, I would just put two form blocks for username and password
and be done with it.

Maybe have a button below that saying "guest" so I don't have to log in.

I don't understand why it makes a difference where someone logs into the
forum from. Who cares?

Luckily the login didn't work in my Opera. My eyes started to ache already
at the frontpage.

My Opera crashed on the applet page. I don't like sites that hurt
Opera.
I didn't know that there were such colors in the world!

That is the worst site I have ever seen.

Gotta' say, there is ugly and then there is brutally ugly. THIS one was of
the brutal variety. I'm wondering if the one book OP read before creating
the site was Miller's "Building Really Annoying Websites"?

At least it leaves me feeling better about my own color sense...

Pretty simple solution. Don't post then, that will teach them a
lesson......

Never made it past the first page.

Me neither, I was a bit put out by the apparent complaint:

"Don't forget: Your being wacthed"

I resent that. My being has never wacthed, it isn't wacthing now and, if I
have anything choice, it won't wacth in the future.

How old are you? I ask because the quality of your site must be judged
against your age/grade in school:

6-8 years old/1st-3rd grade: A. This site is pretty good for a first to
third grader.

9-11y.o./4th-6th grade: B-. This site is not bad for someone under 11
years old.

12-14 y.o./ up through 9th grade: c+. this site is starting to be merely
adequate.

15-17y.o./ through senior in high school: D. This site is not acceptable.
(Unless your teacher is really really easy)

18 -22 y.o./ College: D or F. This page is not acceptable.

over 22/"real world": this page sucks. No one in their right mind would
pay for something like this.

It does say this at the top of every page:
"Convenient web based access to our favorite web design Usenet groups"

No more harm than Google, really, and it has a better interface.
