VML - disable selecting using javascript

Does anyone know how to disable selecting when drawing VML objects? I
have a sketchpad program, where I draw polylines when you do a mouse
drag. The problem is that when i drag the mouse, it is drawing the line
but also selecting the previous VML stuff, which is sort of annoying.
Is there a way to disable this in javascript?

Unlike in SVG, each VML shape is a Dekart space and a viewport by its
own: so you could treat it just like any DOM element in the document.
So the workaround is the same as for say a draggable DIV: prevent
default action for ondrag.
