with saveas() to XML file in asp, without ADO?

Without involving Excel itself, or a third-party application (look at
www.aspose.com) this is not possible. It is possible to get Excel
involved via Automation, but Microsoft strongly discourages automating
Office apps in server-side code (see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q257757) so your
options are:

1. Ignore the caveats and automate Excel
2. Use a third-party app
3. Use ADO
