The enhancements look unimpressive relative to what happened between

Java 5.0 introduced many things, you are right. The feature of 6.0 is
stability and consistancy. The major focus appears to be eliminating
GUI differences across platforms, making sure example sources are
highest quality and Swing thread correct.
