Button doesn´t work in applet

I have created an applet with a button.

When I execute the program in IE 6.0 everything displays alright but nothing
happens when I press the button. A new cardlayout should appear. In Firefox
and appletwiever the button works ok.
What could be wrong?

Where should the new cardlayout appear? The applet?
A new Window?

What could be wrong?

The problem is probably the source code. Why not link
to it from that web page with the applet?
