i had aproblem in conv_integer operation
can anyone please tell me what does this statement mean

DEPTH_INT<=conv_integer(DEPTH);
where here depth :in std_logic_vector (31 downto o)
please tell me the operation of CONV_INTEGER
if suppose the value of depth is 6 .then what will be the value assigned to DEPTH_INT.
also please tell me example with some signed value.
