Rant warning.
Once upon a time, there was a programmer with a computer, a modem card, and an account with an ISP.
The ISP provided a unix shell. All the internet software was on the ISP's side of the phone line. The programmer only had a terminal program.
The programmer realised he never had to update his hardware or software ever again. The connection was fast enough to update his screen instantly.
Personal computers had reached their peak, then along came graphics on the world wide web, and f*cked everything.
AI is the answer to the question "How can I charge people every time they run a program?"
Just an opinion from someone who refuses to pay the phone company every time he rewatches a movie.
