Fill form by loading XML data sent from a servlet

Hi,

I want the servlet to send an XML file containing form data to the
client side, so javascript can then read the XML and autofill the form
on the page. I don't mind if I can do it all from the servlet (i.e. no
javascript; I autofill the form right from the servlet), but I don't
know how to do this.

How can I either 1) pass an XML file to the javascript so it can fill
the form data (I know how to fill the form from the javascript, I
don't know how it will get the XML file from servlet) OR 2) fill the
form right from the servlet with the data in XML file.
