Formview viewstate gone in insertmode after postback ??

I have a formview that I use only in insert mode. I notice if I refresh
or cancel the insert and come back my viewstate (all fields) are gone.
The control has view enabled. I'ved notices in other formviews, it
behalves the same, but only in insert mode. Is there any way to address
this? thanks.
