Getting the column Index of a datagrid control

Hi All,

I am developing a custom grid view control, which displays a
checkbox...grid control is bound to a datasource.

i am writing a custom method for the datagrid, where in user can get
the value of any field (for the selcted row)

say something like GetSelectedFieldValue(field as string)

user will just pass the field name as string and the control should
first get the column index out of the field name and then return the
value for the selected row...
