How do we get the name of the present page into a varible?

You are right, I think.

I did not consider such browsers, they would not have javascript or can do
meaningful things with js or css anyway, so my pages would be a mess in any
case.

Making a modern page reasonably readable on 1990 unix-lynx is not my idea
of fun, and having a seperate print version page seems a better solution.

It is not just 1990 unix-lynx that has that problem. My 2006 cell phone
browser doesn't support I/Frames either. With the advent of mobile
devices it is not a "backwards" issue anymore.

But it is in a sense. Making your general webpages compatible to a 4x4 cm
screen is impraactical to say the least, Randy.

If you want to have a page in WAP technology, or simple html, the amount of
information needs to be reduced severely. Iframes, even if possible, would
serve no purpose.

I make seperate pages for WAP-GSM if necessary, they can be nicely made
with serverside scripting. Even with limited interactivity.
