Is anyone else getting this stuff I'm getting? About rabbis being caught
on tape with strippers and sexy actresses nude and weird stuff like that?
clc seems to be full of this.

The only spam I get is CBF continually hawking his silly ggets and
hashlib programs.

[spam problem]

Depends on the path of newsservers I recieve the message. Usually I post
from my laptop, and depending on where I am (physically), different
newsservers are set (news.lrz-muenchen.de if I'm in university,
news.mnet-online.de at home) in my leafnode's config file, to adopt for
ACLs (those servers can only be reached from withing providers network).

I tend to get more Spam if I'm fetching through news.lrz-muenchen.de.

I assume you mean filtering rather than plonking. Plonk means to put
one individual into a killfile by email address. That's not likely to
get you far with the spammers.

Either I use http://news.individual.net along with a healthy set of
keyword filters. I'm not sure which is the more important, but I don't
much in the way of spam currently.

How about this:

X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.75 [en] (Win98; U)

Is that an example of a newsreader? Why does it announce itself as a mailer?

The spam I have been getting (those included, if memory serves) have
been coming to me almost directly from google news through glorb.

I use outlook express. I have tried thunderbird but it was alot more
complicated to learn than OE and I didn't feel the investment of my time was
worth figuring it out. I might start looking for a new newsreader then.

The enigmail plugin to thunderbird strips it all (or even automatically
verifies it). Of course, there is then the point that you are using a
cancel-lock header, which doesn't seem too widely supported but is still
cryptographically-secure (perhaps) message sender identification in a
way, so you must admit that it is at least a bit valuable.

Well, to me PLONKING is killing messages based on something in
their headers, such as subject, sender. I plonk threads. It isn't
very important, however.
