selecting images in datagrid - template columns?

I have a table with a "duedate" field and I want to have a column with a
"traffic light" image to show whether items are past their due date or
not. Getting an image into a datagrid is fine, but how can I select one
of a selection based on some criteria in another filed (duedate" in this
case)?

I'm quite a newbie at asp.net so am trying to get my head round some of
the issues. I'm quite willing to "google" to find examples etc. but I'm
not sure of the terminology (and hence search terms to use) to find
examples of what I want to do. A pointer would be much appreciated.
